Amazing Phuket

Hello everyone! I would like first to apologize for the lack of post, as I promised I was going to even write about my first leave back at home but unfortunately some situations came by and I was unable to write often as I was doing. I promise to keep you update of what’s going to happen now in my new journey, yes, I might leave my wonderful ‘Emirates’ experience soon. Some details will be posted very shortly, for now let’s enjoy my Phuket gallery!

My very last layover in which I bid for it and got it twice, was Phuket. I was indeed very excited to work this flight, although I was pretty down and sad. Phuket flight was right after my first leave, therefore I was (or I think I was) a little depressed of leaving home, again. I thought of resigning, I started to search for a new job, I was constantly crying over night. I asked a friend who’s been working for Emirates some years as Cabin Crew Supervisor “When this feeling will go away?” he replied- “It would never go away..” I decided to put a side the ‘feelings’ and just work and enjoy my job on these following layovers. When in Rome…

When I saw Rome in my roster I thought swapping it, then again, I haven’t been in Rome for a year ago so, Why not again? My first time was actually with my lovely boyfriend ❤ (That’s why I didn’t want to do it… to many memories of us in this city) It was my dream since I studied Ancient History and Rome History while I was doing my BA degree. I felt in love with their education, architectures, arts, culture, everything! I remember seating in a Human studies class and saying to my professor -‘Someday, I will visit Rome, and I’ll touch the Colosseum walls with my bare hands..’- It came true. First thing I saw was the Colosseum, my eyes almost cried, I couldn’t believe I was actually there. While I was standing doing the line for the entrance, I was literally touching its walls, I had goose pumps, I grabbed my boyfriends hand -‘I finally made it!’- saying to him while I was admiring and imagining me hundreds, thousands of years ago in that place.  Most people have their travel destinations to explore, to gain knowledge, to see someplace new. But, we all have that certain destination in which is more than just exploring or visiting. It’s something we most do before we die! We all have a list, let’s admit it. But we also have that special ONE that we keep in our hearts,  too cliché? I know but; Rome will always be Rome, ancient city that never gets old, city full of history, a city with memories of me and my boyfriend… a city that after a year it still gave me goose pumps, Mamma mia!

Rome has so many, many, and many things to do. Thank God I visited and enjoyed the fullest before, as for a cabin crew you definitely have no time to explore. I mean you can visit the Colosseum, the line takes you ages. Then, you can walk around but you won’t have time to visit other point of interest, rather than just admiring from outside view. For instance the Vatican, (I cried too when I visit the Vatican for the first time by the way 😀 ) the line is normally outrages. I remember on my Holidays, I did an schedule with my boyfriend, we took a whole day just for the Vatican. So, as for a cabin crew you can just explore walking around but if it’s your forever dream as it was like mine: visiting Rome and enjoy its History by fullest in a layover, It’s a no-no. You need like at least a full week with no break to enjoy Rome. Nevertheless, I still enjoyed Rome. I must admit, It still gave me goose pumps when I saw the Colosseum. I loved visiting again the Vatican city, The Trevi Fountain was closed 😦 I was planning to have a snack and coffee right in front of it. Malta Island

I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve been in Malta. Honestly at first, I didn’t had that much of interest visiting it. Ignorance is so bold, I know. My mom was so thrilled when she saw my roster by then -“Malta is delightful! You are going to love it!”-She was so convinced that I was going to change my mind once I land at Malta. This was some 2 roster behind though, I had it twice and then…I remember I had some other layovers which I didn’t like, and I managed to swap it for Malta instead. Next thing I knew, I was hooked with this Island! I was waiting for some time to gather all the things and photos, and write it all in one post. The island is very small, I find it so relaxing! Although Maltese’s like to hang out a lot, they’re very happy people, the city is always shinning of bright lights, restaurants full of  people, the streets are always crowded in a way that you won’t feel insecure of wandering around solo. In addition, wherever you go, the Islands’ scenery and architecture provide a spectacular backdrop. A very friend of my dearest boyfriend send me an inbox with pictures of an article from National Geographic Traveler. It stated how amazing can be visiting the island and it also mentioned the top places to visit along with the top nice restaurants and hotels. So, even that I had this layover several times on my rosters, I was looking forward to do something different on each layover, or at least enjoy a different restaurant.

My first time visiting Malta I went with a nice Italian girl to Valletta. I always arrived with my eyes at the back of my head and almost crawling… But once I glimpse the beautiful  blue Mediterranean beaches, the weather, the honey-coloured stones and its fascinating architecture that brings history back to life, yes. I’m all awake again. Valletta is like half an hour or a litle bit ore from where I was staying, which was at St.Julians. It is abundantly rich in sites to see and explore, intriguing historical buildings around every corner: votive statues, niches, fountains and narrow side streets are full of tiny quaint shops and cafés. October Roster

People have been asking me to share my monthly rosters to spice up my blog. I think is a good idea, it gives you a heads up of where I’ll be traveling to, plus you’ll get an example from me of how Main Fleet roster looks like (layover mixed with turnarounds). As for Mainfleeters, our rosters are pretty mixed, sometimes yes, we get a whole month of full turnarounds and of course we also get a whole month of only layovers. I only complain when they give me: ‘ 3 to 4 flights back to back-one day off-3 to 4 flights back to back again’  it’s exhausting! I’ve seen 5 to 7 turnarounds back to back! I don’t know how crew scheduling think this is normal… Anyhow, October is my top bid, therefore I bid and prayed to finally have at least one flight I bid for. Incredibly I got everything! I bid for Prague, is one of my top cities to visit and also Phuket. I have both flights twice for Oct month. I bid also for 4 days off to extend my leave, I got it yeii! The only flight I didn’t get was MCO (Orlando, FL)  but is okay, I’m going home on my leave anyways.  As always they gave me turnarounds but only two and very short, can’t complain. This is my roster table for October:

This month because of my leave and days off, I don’t have that much of flying hours. However, It’s been 10 months I haven’t seen my parents, pets, friends…my island etc. Forget about flying hours, time is precious when it comes to quality time with your loved ones. This will be my first ever leave since I moved to Dubai and I’m freaking excited! I’m planning to still post while i’m at Puerto Rico and to introduce my island for those whom never been to the enchanted island 🙂 . Really looking forward to post pictures of our beautiful beaches and sightseeing and of course sharing my vacations with all of you.

A walk in Hamburg

Hamburg is  harbor city, its port is the third largest in the world, after London and New York. It’s also famous for exclusive shopping, classic vintage architecture, local beers, food and more. The weather is not always nice, mostly raining. For my luck, I had a beautiful day with blue sky in my first day at Hamburg, Germany. I was so thrilled to work this flight because I’d always wanted to visit Germany. Most of the crew loves Munich and Hamburg because of the classic city and views both have, not to mention that Germans flights are so easy. Meaning, they’re nice people, no complains, and these flights are never fully booked or over booked. It departs very early in the morning so most of them are sleeping and on the way back the flight departs at 4:30pm so they’re also sleeping. No busy flight whatsoever. I met a crew on this flight from Venezuela very new in the company, he was so nice as well the entire economy crew. We arrange to meet up at the lobby to go out for dinner and a walk. One super nice girl from Germany (Munich) went with us, as well of other 2 crew from Economy and one from First Class which she was so lovely as well. Is very rare to hangout or even chat with first class crew, but she was an exception ❤ . We walked, enjoyed the weather, it was pretty cold but I LOVED IT. Maybe because I’m used and tired of Dubai’s horrible hot weather that when I feel a little bit chilly, I just enjoy every minute of it. Everyone were wearing scarves, big warm jackets and well me, yes I was wearing leggings, boots and a long sweater…and an open jacket.  Actually, I didn’t use the

A quick view of London~

Ahh!! a United Kingdom flight, delightful. Most of crew run away from UK flights. Apparently they’re extremely busy with no time to have a rest. I had a Manchester and to be honest I wasn’t thrilled to work that flight, not even for the layover. So I swap it for lovely Malta (post coming up next). After Malta I had this one, London Gatewick which most people encourage me to work it since is a nice layover. The flight duration was 6 hours with some 30 mins or so. It departed at 3am so passengers were all sleeping, very easy flight but challenging to maintain awake. We stayed at a small hotel near the airport and next to the train station. We arrived at maybe 8am at the hotel, I checked in and asked someone in reception to explain me how to get to the city by train when suddenly, one of the girls from our crew was asking another crew how to get to the station. “Are you going to the city?” I asked her. “Yes” -she replied. “Well I’m going as well, if you like we can go together..” I respond to her. She immediately said yes and we arranged to meet an hour at the lobby. We took a shower, met at the lobby, had some coffee and went to the station which it was literally at the back of the hotel. We started asking for directions and it took like only 20 mins to get to the city. The first stop was exactly in front of the Big Ben. We kept walking and took a ride at the London Eye which we experienced a lovely view of London city and the Palace of Westminster as well. We ate at a restaurant near called “Giraffe” (hamburgers, sandwiches, etc) and from there we took the subway and went to see the famous Tower bridge more known as the London bridge, which I found out the actual London bridge it’s another one. The Tower bridge is beautiful, such an old classic architecture that has maintain itself since 1894. The bridge and the entire city is clean, the transportation is very convenient. Nothing is near, meaning the points of interests as a tourist. So, you need to take train and subway to get to all the sightseeing, museums, London bridge, Harry Potter studios or to the Buckingham Palace, etc. However, the public transportation as I have noted, is very convenient and not that difficult once you get the hang of it, there’s always people to
